Dr. Michael Gemma has been involved in education as a teacher, a coach, and an administrator for 34 years. He is also a lifelong learner, having earned his doctoral degree in education in 2004. His dissertation compared the effectiveness of the International Baccalaureate Program, the Advance Placement Program, and dual credit programs among American university students. As a college student, Dr. Gemma participated in the University of California Education Abroad Program. He spent his senior year in 1974-75 at the American University of Beirut, studying Middle Eastern History and Culture. He has also participated in a number of Fulbright Programs, hosting educators from Turkey and Jordan at his Arizona schools and traveling to Turkey to visit schools there. He has also evaluated schools in the Middle East and presented at educational conferences in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as a member of the Council on International and Tran-Regional Accreditation (CITA). In coming to Bradenton Prep, Dr. Gemma is fulfilling life-long goals that include helping to start a new school and returning to the Middle East as an educator.
